Beloved brethren, today I want us to be refreshed by two Scriptures I learned from my Sunday School teacher a couple of decades ago.
The teacher was not an ordained pastor, a renowned Bishop, a famous evangelist, but a young committed youth who still influences my life today through his simple, practical teaching those many years ago.
He loved children,
he loved their parents,
he loved teaching,
and he taught with love, joy and simplicity.
We were using a classroom in a village primary school, but that is the best cathedral I have ever attended.
The two Scriptures are, Psalm 20:7-8 KJV
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.”
In New Living Translation (NLT), the scripture reads,
“Some nations boast of their chariots and horses,
but we boast in the name of the lord our God.
Those nations will fall down and collapse,
but we will rise up and stand firm.”
While the world places its trust in the strength of man-made things, we are called to put our trust on God.
He is the true source of our strength and our salvation.
In God, we find the power to rise above the challenges that would seek to bring us down.
Let us not be swayed by the allure of earthly securities.
Let us put our trust in God. He is too faithful and too dependable.
