Why People Struggle To Be Grateful

My beloved brethren, gratitude is a choice not a gift or a talent.

Wise people choose to be grateful.

Many people struggle to give thanks. They find it hard to express gratitude.

Here are two major reasons why people may not be grateful.

1. Forgetting Past Blessings.

When life becomes busy or difficult, it is easy to forget what God or people have already done.

Our “busy schedules” and our “immediate challenges” can easily blind us.

The Psalmist says in Psalm 103:3.

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:”

Kindly take time daily to recall and reflect on past blessings.

Gratitude grows when memory is active.

2. Focusing on What We Lack Instead of What We Have.

When our eyes are fixed on what we don’t have, we overlook the abundance we already have.

Hebrews 13:5a says:

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have:”

Be grateful today.

Do it intentionally.

Do it purposefully.

It is good for you.
